Overview

Spencerport is the main village of the Town of Ogden. There you'll find 19-century buildings lining the streets and the Erie Canal flowing through the center of the village. The Main Street area and neighborhoods are neat and lined with well-maintained buildings and homes, inviting residents to walk leisurely through the village.

Good to Know
Spencerport is served by its own Volunteer Ambulance service and the Town of Ogden police department. The Spencerport Volunteer Fire Department also serves the area. Ogden Farmer's Library is located at 269 Ogden Center Road in Spencerport, (585) 617-6181.

Local Museums & Landmarks
Spencerport Depot & Canal Museum is located at 15 East Avenue and houses local artifacts. Items from the Erie Canal, Ogden Telephone Company, and the Village of Spencerport are displayed. The building is also a visitor's center (complete with shower facilities) for those traveling along the Erie Canal.

Who Lives Here

The 3,600 residents of Spencerport create a great small town atmosphere. Many residence are engaged in their community through the Kiwanis Club, Spencerport Rotary, American Legion Post, Lion’s Club, and other clubs and organizations.


Essentials

Spencerport has a small town business district that runs right through the heart of the Village. There you will find much a collection of retail and service businesses including; gift shops, ice cream parlor, barber, shop, post office specialty boutiques and great local restaurants. Everything is in walking distance.



Recreation & Entertainment

The thriving village of Spencerport is the recreational center of Ogden, attracting not only residents, but tourists as well. There's an historic tavern on the Erie Canal in Ogden and several golf courses are located here.



Transportation & Traffic

The Spencerport Expressway (Rt. 531) runs across town and connects directly to I-490 and I-390 - About a 20 minute commute to the City of Rochester on a typical work day. Within the village of Spencerport, traffic can become a little dense, especially when the tourist season is in full swing - and that occurs at various times of the year, not just summer.

The Village of Spencerport has friendly people, good schools, plenty of amenities, and strong community feel. All modern conveniences are in walking distance or only minutes away by car.
