Overview

Fayette is a town in north-central Seneca County, bordered to the north by Waterloo and Seneca Falls, to the east by Cayuga Lake, to the south by Varick and to the west by Seneca Lake. Like most towns in Seneca County, Fayette is located between two of the major Finger Lakes, so fishing, boating and other outdoor activities are paramount here.


Essentials

For grocery shopping, there’s a Tops Friendly Markets store on Kingdom Plaza in Waterloo, only 5 miles northeast of Fayette. The closest Wegmans supermarket is on Hamilton Street in Geneva, about 10 miles west. For retail shopping, Waterloo has a Walmart Supercenter and smaller stores like a Rite Aid pharmacy.



Recreation & Entertainment

Because of its setting between Seneca and Cayuga lakes, it’s no surprise that fishing and boating are huge here. Seneca Lake State Park is a short drive southwest, and Cayuga Lake State Park is a quick jaunt east. Cayuga Lake State Park offers camping and has a beach. Sampson State Park, a former U.S. naval base, is just south in Romulus.



Transportation & Traffic

Several well-traveled highways pass through Fayette heading north-south: Route 96, Route 89, Route 414 and Route 96A. Route 336 is a short east-west highway running through part of town.



Pros & Cons

If you like small-town, wide-open communities, Fayette is for you. Its location between Seneca and Cayuga lakes is a huge plus; this is a big area for boating, fishing and other outdoor fun. There’s more to do in nearby communities.
