North Winton Village has a collection of small, independent stores, such as Mayer Hardware, a longtime neighborhood staple. Park Avenue, with its extensive shopping district of eclectic shops, stylists and salons, is quick walk from here. For a wider variety of retail, residents take a short drive to Irondequoit, which has a Target, Sears, and other stores. Being a city neighborhood, North Winton Village is served by the Rochester City School District, and East High School is within the neighborhood’s borders. Just down Blossom Road is Our Lady of Mercy, a private, Catholic school for girls. The closest hospitals are Rochester General, in northeast Rochester near the Irondequoit border, and Strong Memorial, about five miles southwest. The Winton Road branch of the Rochester Public Library is in the heart of North Winton Village.

The neighborhood association sponsors an arts festival every September and an open house for merchants in December. Park Avenue, with its eclectic shops and busy nightlife, is a quick walk from here, as are the historic East Avenue, which has museums and stately mansions, and University Avenue, home of the Memorial Art Gallery. The art gallery and the museums hold summertime concerts and other events. Nearby Irondequoit has a movie theater complex and a small bowling center. Downtown Rochester, with all of its entertainment options, including the Blue Cross Arena, is only about four miles west.
