Ovid has a village, also named Ovid, which has a small business district. Ovid was the first county seat of Seneca County and still retains the title of co-county seat with Waterloo, although most county operations are conducted in Waterloo. With its location between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes, fishing and boating are big attractions in Ovid and surrounding areas.
