Overview The Town of Ogden is a sprawling region of some 37 square miles. Spencerport is its main village. There you'll find 19-century buildings lining the streets and along the Erie Canal. Several lift bridges span the canal throughout the township, all built in the early 1900's. Many homes from that same period are carefully maintained by area residents and by local businesses. You'll find sprawling manicured lawns and vibrant neighborhoods throughout the region. Ogden also has a rich history of farming and is home to some of the oldest family-run farms in New York, still operating successfully, which provide a country feel to this upscale town. Good to Know Ogden has its own police department, and utilizes the services of Spencerport Volunteer Ambulance. The Spencerport Volunteer Fire Department also serves the area. Ogden Farmer's Library is located at 269 Ogden Center Road in Spencerport. (585) 617-6181. Local Museums & Landmarks The Colby-Pulver House, at 568 Colby Street, was built in 1811. Visitors to the museum can examine the saltbox style dwelling and see quilts, clothing, cameras, tools, clothing and more…Spencerport Depot & Canal Museum is located at 15 East Avenue and houses local artifacts. Items from the Erie Canal, Ogden Telephone Co, and the Village of Spencerport are displayed. The building is also a visitor's center (complete with shower facilities) for those traveling along the Erie Canal.

There's an historic tavern on the Erie Canal in Ogden and several golf courses are located here. Parks Northampton Park on Hubbell Rd. provides over 970 acres of hiking trails. It also features a downhill ski slope, model airplane field, trout fishing in Salmon Creek, and shelters can be reserved; Springdale Farms at 700 Colby St, is a working farm operated by developmentally challenged adults; Pineway Ponds is 72 acres of green-space just north of the Village of Spencerport with lodges, sports areas, hiking and fishing… There area a series of hiking, biking and snowmobile trails in the area as well. Annual Events Spencerport Canal Days in July feature an arts & crafts show, a car show, live music and fireworks; The "Music On the Canal" concert series runs all summer long; a Chamber Golf Tournament is held in July; and the annual Spencerport Firemen's Carnival features a parade, rides, food and more in June.

Within the village of Spencerport, traffic can become a little dense, especially when the tourist season is in full swing - and that occurs at various times of the year, not just summer.
